He came to the castle which was embellishing Kastamonu nights and was integrated into the city. He could even write poetry while he was watching the view from the castle, commanding everywhere. He learned that the castle was built on the main rock at an altitude of 120 meters to the west of the city by the Komnenos in the 12th century. The worn-out structure was taken its present shape with the modifications made over the centuries. Inside the fortress, cisterns, dungeons, escape tunnels and also the tomb is known as “Bayraklı Sultan” attracted his attention. The transportation was rather simple compared to most of the castles he saw in Turkey. He was surprised that he was able to reach the castle by car or by foot, walking through the historical streets. He thought it was one of the most beautiful places to take a souvenir photograph.
